What is Autism?

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills and interaction with others, repetitive behaviors, obsessive interests, and difficulty with speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 59 children in the United States today.

Autism spectrum disorder impacts the nervous system.

Early recognition, as well as behavioral, educational, and family therapies may reduce symptoms and support development and learning.
